This class is for beginner students (no experience) through intermediate level (2-3 years of belly dance).

Classes are ongoing
and drop-ins are welcome! Cardio
Shimmies. Wednesdays, 6:30PM - 7:30PM Cost:
Monthly gym membership or a drop in charge of $10 paid directly to the Gym.
All classes begin
with a yoga-based warm up, poses carefully chosen to warm up specific areas
of the body to meet the demands of the choreography. All classes have
“shimmy drills” to further elevate the heart rate and prepare the body for
movement, with some basic layering to assist the student in separating physical
from mental blocks. Special care is
taken throughout to ensure that all movement is safe, with alternatives provided
so that the student may continue to participate despite individual limitations.
If you have a specific concern, please contact the teacher prior to beginning
class by email, or privately before or after class. Don’t hesitate during a
class to request a modifier if you require one.

Putting it together! So, you’ve learned to isolate and can drop your hip? What’s next?
Combinations! And hoe to fit them into the music. While staying true to the
improvisational nature of this dance, using combinations can help take
your dancing to (pardon the pun) the next level. In this class, students will learn a
short choreography to a drum solo by Dr. Sammy Farag. Focus will be on increasing control, hip isolations and articulations,
arm positioning and core strength.
This class is for
students who either have had some experience with belly dance or are "total"
beginners looking for a more intensive experience than the 1PM class alone.

pounding combination-based lesson that focuses on increasing cardiovascular
endurance while teaching the basics of posture, alignment and Middle Eastern
dance movements. Jemileh takes you through 3 – 4 dance combinations saluting the
4 corners of the Earth and shows you how to shake what your mama gave you!
